Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA)
Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct outlines the standard of behaviour expected from all members of the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA), including athletes, coaches, parents, directors, volunteers, staff, chaperones, and all other participants.
Commitment to Respect & Inclusion
OWHA teams, associations, programs, and leagues are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.
All members are expected to:
- Conduct themselves in a fair, respectful, and responsible manner at all times
- Treat others with dignity and respect
- Promote a positive and supportive hockey environment
The following behaviours will not be tolerated:
- Disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist, or sexist language or actions
- Harassment, abuse, bullying, or cyber-bullying of any kind
Behaviour & Representation
During all OWHA activities and events, members must:
- Act in a manner that reflects positively on the OWHA and the sport of hockey
- Avoid any behaviour that may bring the association or the game into disrepute
- Refrain from the abusive use of alcohol and the non-medical use of drugs
Safety & Fair Play
All members are responsible for maintaining a safe environment and must:
- Refrain from the use of unlawful or unauthorized drugs, narcotics, or performance-enhancing substances
- Avoid any actions or behaviours that could endanger the safety of others
Adherence to Rules & Policies
OWHA members are required to:
- Follow all OWHA, team, association, program, and league policies and procedures
- Comply with the rules governing OWHA events and activities
- Adhere to the regulations of any competition in which they participate on behalf of OWHA
Accountability
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
- Suspension
- Removal from participation
- Termination of membership
Such actions may result in the loss of privileges associated with OWHA membership, including the opportunity to participate in OWHA activities.
